City Cab of Myrtle Beach
We’ve been hitting the highways of the Myrtle Beach area as City Cab of Myrtle Beach for the past eight years. It all started with a dime and a dream to start our own business after moving north from Warner Robins, Ga.
Bobby and Mouanh Carroll love where they live and where they make a living year-round, where their clients only vacation. After serving four years in the U.S. Marines from 1992-1996, Bobby moved to Myrtle Beach with his wife and first worked some odd jobs in real estate, timeshares, even selling Kirby vacuum cleaners. In 2007, however, he fell off a ladder from 22 feet high, shattering both heels, and in March 2008, Bobby decided to start up City Cab of Myrtle Beach on the advice from family – advice he’s forever grateful he took.
Bobby and Mouanh were the first taxi drivers in their small one-cab company, followed by several more over the years. Today, City Cab is a team of nearly a dozen drivers that operate a fleet of six seven-passenger minivans, regularly maintained and at your service when you call.
Bobby was never interested in beefing up the quantity to more than that, in fear of City Cab’s quality suffering. So he’s been very selective.
“Bigger is not always better, which allows us to focus more on the customer and not just being point-A-to-point-B drivers,” he says. “I look for drivers who have a certain personality, those who know how to talk to customers and understand their transportation while here in the Myrtle Beach area.”
That mentality is spawned from the Carrolls’ customer service background in catering to each customer on an individual basis to make them feel as comfortable as possible. The couple feeds off of that daily interaction with the customers because every fare is a new chance to make a new friend or family member.
“I love that responsibility of getting to each and every fare in a timely, safe, and fun way to their final destination,” says Bobby.
